Other systems can be configured to work with an existing router in an access point-only mode, but with the Whole Home that's the only way it works. This doesn't have to be a BT router, though.
Subsequently, one may also ask, can you use BT whole home with other providers?
No. This means that you can remain with your existing Internet Service Provider (ISP) if you wish or you can switch to BT broadband – the choice is yours.
Subsequently, question is, is BT whole home any good? Networks, especially wireless networks, can be fickle beasts, but we've found the Whole Home Wi-Fi has generally been very good in maintaining connection. We've had two crashes during that time, where the base disc (the one connected to the router) has crashed, at which point everything stops working.
Likewise, people ask, can I use BT WiFi discs work with other routers?
Re: Complete WiFi
I think you will find that the smart hub 2 forms the first (master) node in the mesh, and will not work with another router, but there is no harm in trying. If it does not work, then you can always return the disc, as its only rented. The white whole home discs will work with any router.
How many discs can you add to BT whole home WiFi?
6 disks
