Herein, can you open a STEP file in SketchUp?
FreeCAD can import STEP files and save as other formats- STL for example which can be imported in SketchUp Pro or Make 2017. It can open a STEP file and save it as a SketchUp model (version 8, I think).
Beside above, what file formats can SketchUp import? Using SketchUp Data with Other Modeling Programs or Tools
| File Type | File Extension(s) | SketchUp Pro and Shop Only? |
|---|---|---|
| CAD files | .dwg , .dxf | PRO and SHOP only |
| Image files | .jpg , .png , .tif , .bmp , .psd , .tga , .epx , .pdf , .eps | Some file types are PRO and SHOP only |
| STL files | .stl | |
| COLLADA files | .dae |
Similarly one may ask, how do I import files into SketchUp?
In SketchUp, open the SketchUp model into which you want to import your . dwg or . dxf file. Select File > Import.
Can SketchUp export STEP files?
Sketchup allows export to a variety of 3D formats - so actually converting from any of those formats to STP would be OK as well, but I was trying to avoid large costs… You can export a STEP or IGES or several other formats from Punch 2D/3D. Works great with most models.
