Thereof, how many kW can a 6mm cable carry?
Well 6mm tandE takes 47A IF clipped direct, and not to0 long of a run, say about 10-15meters. That means that 6mm is ok for 10.5KW showers (SOMETIMES).
Additionally, can you replace a 8.5 kW shower with a 9.5 kW? The 9.5kW shower draws 41A if you use 230v, but as most supplies are 240v it will draw below 40A. I would go with the 9.5 kW shower, the cable will not be loaded for long periods and it is not a long run. If you are concerned, check the VD with a meter when the shower is running.
Then, can you run a 9kW shower on 6mm cable?
Just use the existing 6mm cable for the 9kW shower. Your customer won't have the slightest problem with it - unless he's rich enough to spend all weekend in the shower.
How many amps is a 9.5 kW shower?
fuze-box New Member. As long as your breaker is 40amp it will be ok, because your shower will take 41.3amps (roughly 4 amps per kw) at full load and that will only be for about 15mins, the cable is rated at 48amps anyhow.
