Note: witches despawn like all common mobs; just move over 130 blocks away and it will vanish. Another “cheap” way is to box it in with any blocks, then dig a block down, destroy one block on the witch’s legs levels, then and attack the legs. It won’t be able to attack you. –

Lure the witch to make her fall in the hole ; crush her. This can even be done very fast if needed : when in a pinch, first make here fall in a 1×1 wall, cover it so she doesn’t throw potions, and you just have to dig again and put your pistons to crush her. Or just use gravel/sand.

Witches are extremely difficult to kill via suffocation or cacti (though not impossible), due to their frequent use of healing potions. When drinking a potion, a witch’s nose lifts and points forward. Witches have small mouths hidden under their noses. During their potion-drinking animation, this mouth becomes visible from the side.

Best way I found to kill a witch is to knock out the floor where her doorway is, and place a block two spaces down. That way when she goes to attack you she falls in the hole and can’t jump out or attack very well. Make a fort a good distance away and wait for her to spawn.

Position yourself around three-quarters of an arm-length away from the witch. Using your best arm, clench your fist solidly, then draw back your arm and uttering your favourite shamanic “Shout of Force”, aim and hit said witch between the eyes. The “Shout of Force” should be uttered as loudly as you can muster and is very effective.

It is easy to check empirically. Build a simple tower with a measured height, spawn a witch in creative with a spawn egg at a set height. 30 blocks is the minimum drop height for the witch to die. Witches have 13 hearts (26 health).
