Also question is, are Sabian AAX cymbals good?
Re: Sabian AAX cymbals
I highly suggest that you go to a music store and hear the cymbal first. But yes, they're definitely both high quality, pretty versatile cymbals. I used to have a 14" Xplosion myself but I sold it. It had a great sound though.
Subsequently, question is, does cleaning cymbals improve sound? Cleaning cymbals does affect their sustain/sound -- if the cymbals are REALLY dirt/tarnished that is. A filthy cymbal that may sound dark & mellow will usually sound a lot brighter & will cut through better & sustain longer after it is cleaned.
Also question is, how do you remove oxidation from cymbals?
That is not mold on your cymbals, it's oxidation. You can use a product called Nev-R-Dull on your cymbals. It removes most anything. Buff it off with a cotton towel and then use Windex to bring a shine to the cymbals.
Which is better Zildjian or Sabian?
The Sabian crashes you played don't sound better because Sabian is better than Zildjian. They sound better because you like them better than the limited number of other crash cymbals you have heard.
